Job summary

Service Corporation International is seeking an entry-level Groundskeeper to maintain cemetery and funeral home grounds. The role involves mowing, landscaping, and assisting with interments while ensuring a safe, clean environment year-round.

You will operate lawn equipment, handle basic repairs, and follow OSHA guidelines. This position requires physical stamina and the ability to work in varying weather conditions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 6 months of relevant experience in landscaping or physical labor.
• Ability to operate hand-held tools and equipment safely.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Basic computer skills to enable email communications.

Responsibilities

• Mows grass, waters lawns, trims shrubs, and maintains flower beds.
• Operates lawn and grounds equipment including mowers, snow blowers, weed eaters, leaf blowers.
• Removes debris and trash from grounds; assists with interments and grave layout.
• Assists in moving and installing burial vaults and basic cemetery maintenance.
• Follows safety rules and OSHA regulations; performs minor repairs as needed.
• May perform cremation-related duties under supervision.

Performs all groundskeeping and maintenance matters on the properties and maintains the overall appearance of a cemetery, mausoleum or funeral home location. Incumbent gains an understanding of how a cemetery operates.JOB RESPONSIBILITIESMows grass, plows snow, waters lawns, fertilizes and trims shrubs, tends flower beds and regularly inspects assigned work areas to ensure proper standards are maintainedOperates lawn and grounds equipment including push and power mowers, snow blowers, weed eaters, leaf blowers and other related power equipmentRemoves debris and trash from grounds.
