Overview

Grounds Worker – Lexington, KY

Requisition Number: RE51467 • Department: 3CP07:Phys Plt-Grounds Services • Type: Staff • Full-Time • Salary Range: $15.30-24.50/hour • Education: HS

Work location: University of Kentucky campus. The Grounds Worker will maintain the campus greenspaces, provide landscaping services, support designated venue maintenance and cleanup efforts, and deliver winter weather services to ensure campus safety and accessibility.

Responsibilities

• Perform landscaping tasks including mowing, weeding, mulching, plant installation, and sanitation services.
• Operate mowers, trucks, utility vehicles, tractors, loader, and other light to medium duty equipment.
• Support venue maintenance and campus cleanup efforts as assigned.
• Provide winter weather services (snow and ice control/removal) and operate related equipment, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Contribute to a team environment and pursue improvements in landscaping and grounds maintenance.

Qualifications

• Required Education: HS
• Required Related Experience: 1 year
• Required License/Registration/Certification: None
• Preferred Education/Experience: High School + 1 year in grounds keeping; turf and landscaping maintenance; Driver’s License preferred
• Physical Requirements: Lifting, pushing, and/or pulling objects up to 50 lbs; standing or walking with objects up to 25 lbs; repetitive motion; exposure to equipment, loud noises, and outdoor conditions

Work Schedule

Shift: 7:00am – 3:45pm (Monday – Friday). Hours may vary based on situational and weather-related factors and may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
