MetroLagoons is seeking a Grounds Supervisor to lead outdoor maintenance of beaches, common areas, and facilities. The role is hands-on and involves directing and working with a team to keep lagoons clean and well organized.

You will schedule tasks, supervise cleaning operations, and coordinate with vendors while ensuring safety and customer service standards. The role requires flexibility for mornings, nights, holidays, and weekends.

Qualifications

• High School diploma; BA or degree seeking preferred.
• Minimum one-year supervisory experience.
• Minimum two years’ maintenance/custodial experience.
• Willingness to obtain CPR, First Aid & AED certifications.
• Available to work mornings, nights, holidays, and weekends.
• Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the grounds team in cleaning, maintenance, and setting up facilities.
• Create schedules, prep reports, checklists, and paperwork.
• Coordinate with vendors for routine cleaning and maintenance.
• Coach staff with positive reinforcement and discipline when needed.
• Manage daily budget hours and assist in modifications.
• Assist with lifting and storing equipment for events.
• Maintain preventive maintenance logs and inventory.
• Provide excellent guest service and address guest requests.

Job Summary

The Grounds Supervisor leads the team responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the lagoon’s amenities and keeping all land areas of the lagoon clean and well organized. This includes the beaches, common areas, and buildings. Work will be performed primarily outdoors. This is a hands-on position, and the successful candidate will both direct and participate in tasks with his or her team.

Responsibilities Include

• Responsible for leading the grounds team that performs the following tasks: sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, managing trash, pressure washing, hosing, cleaning restroom facilities, and resetting furniture


• Create schedules, prepares, and reviews reports, checklists, and other paperwork


• Collaborate with vendors involved in the routine cleaning of the lagoon grounds


• Assess employees’ progress: coach with positive reinforcement and discipline, when necessary, fairly and consistently


• Manage daily budget hours and work with leadership to revise and develop changes as needed


• Assist staff with lifting and storing facility equipment, furniture, and products to help maintain facility and prepare for special events


• Develop and maintain accurate department maintenance procedures and checklists through routine preventative maintenance logs


• Maintain a monthly inventory of supplies, equipment, and or products. Order grounds supplies


• Provide excellent customer service and monitors guest feedback. Supervise and follow up on department’s guest requests and comments


• Other duties as required

Qualifications

• High School diploma, BA or degree seeking preferred


• Minimum one-year supervisory experience


• Minimum two years’ experience in a maintenance/custodial position


• Willingness to obtain CPR, First Aid & AED certifications


• Must be available to work mornings, nights, holidays, and weekends. (Flexible schedule hours will vary)


• Efficient, well organized, and able to handle a variety of duties simultaneously


• Professional manner, discretion, and appearance


• Strong leadership/managerial skills with the ability to lead, motivate, and communicate with staff members. The ability to adapt to change, including adherence to strict budget and labor guidelines


• Strong verbal and written communication skills


• Ability to work in all weather conditions for extended periods of time


• Ability to stand, walk, sit, bend over, stoop, reach overhead, and lift up to 50 pounds
