Description of Work

Black Mountain Neuro-Medical Treatment Center (BMNTC) is currently accepting applications for a full-time Grounds Supervisor I. This is a supervisory/technical position responsible for supervising the maintenance and upkeep of the facilities grounds.

Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To, The Following

  • Planning, scheduling, and supervising the ground crew and assisting other craft personnel.
  • Maintaining 20+ acres of grounds; including lawn, trees, shrubs, walkways, roadways and utilities.
  • Preventive maintenance and storage of all machinery and attachments.
  • Supervising and assisting in performing underground repairs to service lines such as water, steam, condensation, water drainage (gutter, storm drains) and sanitation lines and sewers.
  • Supervising the removal of snow, ice, leaves, limbs, etc., and removal of all debris from grounds.
  • Knowledge of and ability to identify and apply appropriate pesticides as needed.

This position is designated MANDATORY and MUST report or stay over during adverse weather events and/or other emergencies.

Black Mountain Neuro-Medical Treatment Center is one of three state-operated facilities serving adults with chronic and complex medical conditions that co-exist with neurodevelopmental or neurocognitive disorders often related to a diagnosis of severe and persistent mental illness or intellectual disability. The health and physical status of these residents require 24-hour supervision, daily nursing care, and assistance with activities of daily living.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities / Competencies

The successful candidate will return to the Work Experience section of the application and thoroughly document, in detail, that they possess the following:

  • Demonstrated experience with fertilization methods and with trimming trees and shrubs.
  • Demonstrated experience with training others on the safe and proper use and maintenance of grounds equipment.

Management Preferences

  • Three (3) years of demonstrated experience supervising others, including distributing and managing work assignments, hiring new staff, and managing staff performance.
  • Demonstrated experience with the cleaning and repair of on-campus streets and parking lots.
  • Demonstrated experience with inventory control of equipment and supplies.

Minimum Education And Experience Requirements

High School or General Educational Development (GED) Diploma

AND

three (3) years of progressive experience in grounds upkeep;

OR

an equivalent combination of education and experie
nce.
