Job summary

Loews Ventana Canyon Resort in Tucson, AZ, seeks a dependable Grounds Person to maintain our outdoor spaces to the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, and visual appeal.

In this hands-on role, you'll care for lawns, gardens, walkways, and parking areas, perform routine landscape tasks, monitor irrigation, operate equipment, and support outdoor event setups while collaborating with other departments to ensure guest satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Previous groundskeeping or landscaping experience in a hotel, resort, or similar hospitality environment.
• High school diploma or equivalent, preferred.
• Experience operating landscaping equipment such as mowers, trimmers, and other power tools.
• Strong organizational and time management abilities.
• Knowledge of irrigation systems and water conservation techniques.
• Ability to stand, walk, lift 50+ pounds regularly throughout the shift.

Responsibilities

• Maintain outdoor grounds including lawns, gardens, walkways, and parking areas.
• Mow, trim, plant, and weed landscaping tasks.
• Monitor irrigation systems for proper water distribution.
• Operate landscaping equipment safely and efficiently.
• Inspect and repair outdoor fixtures, pathways, and other assets as needed.
• Respond to seasonal weather conditions by clearing snow, ice, or debris from walkways.
• Assist with outdoor setups for special events and equipment.
• Maintain exterior entryways and public spaces.
• Collaborate with other hotel departments to ensure guest satisfaction.
• Report maintenance or safety hazards to supervisors.

What You'll Do:

• Maintain the hotel's outdoor grounds, including lawns, gardens, walkways, and parking areas.
• Perform routine landscaping tasks such as mowing, trimming, planting, and weeding.
• Monitor and maintain irrigation systems to ensure proper water distribution.
• Operate and maintain landscaping equipment and tools safely and efficiently.
• Inspect and repair outdoor fixtures, pathways, and other property assets as needed.
• Respond to seasonal weather conditions by clearing snow, ice, or debris from walkways.
• Assist with outdoor setups for special events, including tables, chairs, and equipment.
• Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of exterior entryways and public spaces.
• Monitor and maintain outdoor lighting systems for safety and functionality.
• Assist with upkeep of water features or other outdoor structures as required.
• Follow all safety protocols and procedures when performing groundskeeping duties.
• Maintain inventory of landscaping supplies and equipment.
• Collaborate with other hotel departments to ensure guest satisfaction and property standards.
• Report maintenance or safety hazards promptly to supervisors.
• Regular attendance in conformance with standards.
• May be required to work varying schedules to reflect business needs.
• Required to attend all mandatory training sessions and meetings.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Your Qualifications Include:

• Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, or snow).
• Proficiency in operating heavy machinery and landscaping equipment safely and effectively.
• Ability to walk and move for extended periods while performing maintenance and groundskeeping tasks.
• Ability to stand, walk, reach, work on ladders, and lift/pull/push 50 plus pounds regularly throughout the shift.
