Job summary

USD 313 is seeking a Director of Grounds in Kansas for a 12-month, full-time position at 40 hours per week with overtime as needed. Salary may reach up to $55,000 annually. The role reports to the Director of Operations and is classified as Non-Exempt.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience preferred in grounds maintenance.
• Must have valid Kansas driver’s license.
• Knowledge of safety standards, laws, codes, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures related to grounds maintenance.
• Position requires 24 hour on call status.
• Maintain current TB testing as required by Health Department regulations.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a system to prioritize jobs, utilize staff, and account for time and materials in job completion to ensure an effective and efficient work environment.
• Make frequent inspections of grounds to assure equipment is functioning properly and work is completed satisfactorily.
• Advise, recommend and follow up on repair service to be contracted for maintaining equipment properly.
• Ensure proper documentation and safeguards for all materials and equipment issued and used for accountability within Grounds.
• Develop and implement systems for dealing efficiently and effectively with emergency situations to ensure safety measures are taken.
• Maintain accurate inventory of equipment for accountability of the district’s assets.
• Evaluate and recommend selection, placement, promotion, and dismissal of custodial and maintenance personnel to the Director of Operations.
• Approve timesheets and certify overtime in Grounds Maintenance for accountability of work.
• Conduct job and safety training for Grounds personnel to comply with district and local regulations.
• Keep informed of trends, development and products of Grounds Maintenance to provide an efficient work environment.
• Develop and implement a program for scheduled grounds maintenance to ensure annual procedures that are effective and efficient.
• Prepare accident reports and submit to the Director of Operations for timely handling.
• Serve as the district’s field representative for Grounds Maintenance projects to communicate with contractors.
• Review and provide input for ongoing and new Grounds Maintenance projects within the district.
• Be familiar with safety standards, laws, codes, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures for Grounds Maintenance to ensure compliance.
• Provide support to the Director of Operations and Director of Buildings to maintain cohesive team.
• Maintain confidentiality of student and staff information to comply with legal requirements.
