Job summary

McLaren Health Care in Michigan is seeking a grounds maintenance team member to keep medical center grounds well groomed year-round. You will mow, trim, plant, fertilize, and maintain inventory of lawn care products, while performing minor repairs on grounds equipment.

The role requires a high school diploma (or equivalent) and at least six months’ experience operating commercial grounds equipment, plus a valid Michigan driver’s license and insurance approval to drive center vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Maintain medical center grounds in all weather; mow lawns and trim shrubs.
• Keep inventory of salt and lawn care products and perform minor repairs on equipment.
• Ensure areas are safe and clean; remove trash, snow/ice, salt or sand as needed.
• Perform painting on light posts, railings, etc., and inspect surfaces for maintenance needs.
• Install landscaping items and seasonal decorations; parity with safety standards.

Job description

Position Summary

Under general supervision, maintain medical center grounds in all weather conditions. Responsible for mowing grass, trimming shrubs and maintaining inventory of salt and all lawn care products. Maintain and perform minor repairs on grounds equipment.

Job Specific Duties and Responsibilities

• Ensure lawn and shrubbery is well groomed and maintained properly through planting, fertilizing, watering, seeding, and weed control.
• Ensure all areas are in safe and clean condition which may include, but is not limited to picking up trash, removing snow and ice, spreading salt or sand, and patching/repairing small damaged areas.
• Perform general painting as needed which may include light posts, railings, etc.
• Inspect building surfaces, fences, curbs, sidewalks for maintenance and cleaning needs.
• Maintain inventory of all lawn care products.
• Perform minor repairs and maintain grounds equipment and tools.
• Install landscaping items, parking blocks, seasonal or holiday decorations, etc.
• Weather not permitting, work may be assigned indoors.
• Perform other related duties as required and directed.
