Job summary

Northwestern State University is seeking a Maintenance Repairer 1 to support daily grounds maintenance across its 900-acre campus. The role focuses on keeping the campus clean, safe, and visually appealing for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

Qualified candidates have at least one year of related experience or training, plus coursework in construction or engineering. Typical duties include mowing, landscaping, minor repairs, irrigation work, litter removal, and light equipment operation

Qualifications

• One year of experience or training in building trades, grounds maintenance, or related areas.
• Six semester hours in construction management, construction technology, or engineering, or equivalent courses.

Responsibilities

• Perform general grounds maintenance, including mowing and trimming tasks.
• Maintain landscaped areas, including flower beds, shrub trimming, and minor tree trimming.
• Assist with basic irrigation system maintenance and minor repairs.
• Empty exterior trash receptacles and assist with litter removal across campus grounds.
• Operate tractors, mowers, and other grounds maintenance equipment for light grounds work.
• Assist with nuisance wildlife management activities when necessary.
• Perform pressure washing and other exterior cleaning as needed.
• Complete other outdoor maintenance and grounds duties as assigned.
