Job description

The Grounds Maintenance position provides landscaping of exterior areas of campus to ensure a clean, safe, and professional appearance at all times. The grounds maintenance person reports to the Assistant Superintendent of Support Services, Building and Grounds.

Responsibilities

• Work under direction of immediate supervisor and perform all duties as assigned.
• Accountable for all tools, equipment and supplies issued.
• Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.
• Perform all duties observing safety procedures and utilizing proper equipment (safety glasses, gloves, tags, etc.)
• Responsible for the appearance and cleanliness of campus landscaping.
• Assist with the movement of equipment and furniture as well as set up and tear down for campus functions.
• Responsible for adhering to established procedures.
• Remove debris and other items from flower beds and exterior areas of campus.
• Work with other personnel as assigned.
• Work on weekends, holidays, evening/night and all other hours as required.
• Mow all areas of campus, trim bushes, trim trees, etc., as needed.
• Ensure all safety procedures are followed while using commercial mowers, weed eaters, and landscaping equipment.
• Adhere to all college policies and procedures.

• Valid Driver’s License and must remain in good standing while employed.
• Landscaping/exterior yard work experience.
• Ability to communicate effectively with college personnel and students.

Desirable Qualifications

• Experience using commercial mowers.
• Experience in a professional/education work setting.
