The Grounds Maintenance position involves maintaining and enhancing Park District facilities by performing both unskilled and semi-skilled tasks, ensuring quality and adherence to policies.

Qualifications

• Perform routine unskilled and semi-skilled work, including turf, landscape, and plant maintenance such as seeding, sodding, fertilizing, mowing, trimming, aerating, spraying, plant installation, soil preparation, irrigation, and plant propagation.
• Handle plant pest control, including chemical applications.
• Remove plants and trees as needed.
• Maintain buildings and facilities through cleaning and minor repairs.
• Maintain roadways and walkways via plowing, grading, patching, and seal coating.
• Perform equipment maintenance like oil changes, lubrication, blade sharpening, and belt adjustments.
• Assist with park construction and renovation projects.
• Perform tasks at specialized locations such as golf courses, stables, The Chalet, and aquatics areas.
• Install, maintain, and remove signs and boundary markers.
• Possess knowledge of pesticide and fertilizer application, if applicable.
• Perform routine equipment maintenance and minor mechanical repairs.
• Collaborate with skilled employees on construction and repair projects.
• Proficiently operate equipment such as trucks, tractors, construction machinery, and small engines.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
