Amentum is currently seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Grounds Maintenance Laborer to join our Facility Services team in Fort Gordon, Georgia. This role is responsible for executing daily hands-on landscape care across our 160-acre commercial footprint. Key duties include precision mowing, trimming, weed pulling, debris sweeping, and seasonal facility winterization.
Tiered Mowing Operations: Safely operate a variety of commercial lawn equipment including 52″ zero-turn mowers, 42″ finish mowers, and 30″ walk-behind units. Maintain strict deck adjustments based on turf tiers recommended for southern lawns containing Zoysia and Bermuda grasses.
Precision Detailing & Trimming: Execute high-density string trimming and edge clipping around tight parking lot concrete fingers, main entrances, and courtyards. Safely maneuver equipment to fully protect parked vehicle profiles.
Hardscape & Perimeter Sanitation: Mechanically blow off all asphalt parking lots, concrete walkways, and courtyards immediately following cutting. Conduct litter sweeps and debris hauling using utility vehicles.
Prune and Plant: Install new trees, shrubs, flowers, and mulch. Prune vegetation to shape and improve growth, removing damaged leaves, branches, and twigs with shears, pruners, or chainsaws
Non-Growing Season Projects: Execute leaf vacuuming, elevate tree canopy lines uniformly up to 12 feet using hand/chainsaws, shape dormant structural shrubs, and clear perimeter overgrowth.
Preventative Fleet Maintenance: Perform daily pre-trip safety checks. Participate in Friday shop overhauls involving deck scraping, power washing, precision blade grinding/balancing, and engine oil/filter replacement.
Experience: 1-2 years of experience in commercial landscaping, groundskeeping, or industrial facility maintenance is preferred.
Equipment Skills: Proven ability to operate zero-turn mowers, line trimmers, blowers, and utility cargo vehicles safely.
Physical Demands: Must be able to perform strenuous manual labor outdoors daily in hot summer conditions. Ability to continually bend, kneel, stand, and lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
Licensing: Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record required to operate facility transport utility machines.
This is an hourly, overtime-eligible position that falls under the Service Contract Act (SCA). In accordance with the Health and Welfare provisions of the SCA, and in addition to your base hourly rate, you may be eligible to receive an additional health and welfare payment for each hour you work to ensure compliance with the minimums set forth by the act. The amount you are entitled to receive will vary depending upon the fringe benefits you select now and in the future.
$18-$27/hourly USD
