Grounds Maintenance will provide lawn maintenance of the College and ensure a professional appearance of the grounds is maintained at all times. This Grounds Maintenance position reports to the Ground Supervisor.
Job Duties
- Work under the direction of the grounds supervisor and perform all duties as assigned.
- Perform all duties assigned in a timely manner.
- Work with all other Maintenance personnel as assigned.
- Must maintain a valid MS Driver’s License at all times while employed.
- Responsible for daily upkeep of the grounds including weed removal, trimming of trees, hedges, bushes, mulching, and trash/debris removal/disposal.
- Maintain adequate inventory of lawn supplies, and ensure regular maintenance of grounds equipment.
- Report any safety-related issues, unusual or extraordinary circumstances involving the college grounds or students.
- Maintain a present professional employee appearance and attitude at all times.
- Provide a courteous and timely response to requests for assistance.
- Adhere to all College policies and procedures.
- Assist with grounds maintenance at other campuses/locations of College as needed.
- Flexible work schedule and location may be required.
- This position requires lifting, standing/walking, twisting, pushing, and pulling for 67-100% of the time.
- This position requires routinely lifting loads of 20 to 50 pounds.
- This position requires working overhead, with and without ladders, for an extended period of time in an outdoor environment.
- Improve skill level and performance through employee development.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.
Mandatory Qualifications
- High School Diploma or High School Equivalency.
- Demonstrated competency in the use of lawn maintenance equipment (i.e., lawn mowers, weed eaters, and trimmers).
- Must be able to lift, stand/walk, twist, push, and pull for 67-100% of the time.
- Must be able to routinely lift loads of 20 to 50 pounds.
- Active and valid driver’s license required.
- Driver’s licenses must remain in good standing at all times while employed.
- Ability to work overhead, with and without ladders, for an extended period of time in an outdoor environment.
Desirable Qualifications
- Prior experience in the landscape maintenance arena.
- Prior experience working in an outdoor environment.
