Job summary

Gwinnett County is seeking a Grounds Maintenance Associate III to oversee daily park operations, supervise staff, and ensure timely maintenance and equipment upkeep. The role involves developing in-house training and inspecting parks for safety and quality.

You will manage budgets, approve times, perform evaluations, and coordinate service requests for plumbing, electrical, and carpentry needs, while engaging with the public and youth athletic associations as needed.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Three years of grounds maintenance experience, including one year in a lead role, or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license is required.

Job Description

The Grounds Maintenance Associate III will be overseeing day-to-day park operations, including staff management, general parks maintenance, and equipment upkeep and repair. The incumbent will be responsible for assessing, developing, and implementing in-house training related to grounds maintenance. In addition, this position will be inspecting parks to ensure they meet safety and maintenance standards.

Essential Duties
  • Prioritizing and assigning work to direct reports, providing training and guidance as needed, and ensuring staff follow policies and procedures
  • Approving time for direct reports and ensuring staff follows policies and procedures
  • Conducting performance evaluations
  • Making recommendations in hiring, terminating, and disciplinary actions
  • Completing accident and personal injury reports
  • Maintaining assigned budget and monitoring expenditures
  • Creating purchase orders for materials needed in daily operation
  • Performing monthly inspections of assets
  • Creating service requests for plumbing, electrical, and carpentry needs
  • Maintaining and verifying equipment inventory
Public Speaking Duties
  • Speaking and leading training programs
  • Interacting with the public and youth athletic associations
  • Reporting on maintenance items on an as needed basis
Other Job Requirements/Information
  • This job may require on-call rotation and emergency after hours, weekends, and/or holidays.
Grade

The grade for this position is B22(2). Salary will be dependent on education and experience.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED, AND
  • Three years of grounds maintenance experience, including one year of lead experience; or
    • An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above will also be considered.
  • Valid driver's license
