Job summary

Madison Metropolitan School District is seeking a Groundsworker to perform grounds maintenance, operate district vehicles and equipment, and support athletic field construction and maintenance. The role requires adherence to safety standards, reliability, and collaboration with school staff.

You will handle mowing, trimming, equipment repairs, snow removal, and delivery tasks, with a focus on maintaining safe, welcoming school grounds year-round.

Qualifications

• Experience in a role with limited supervision.
• Experience working cross-culturally and/or commitment to cultural competence.

Responsibilities

• Grounds & exterior maintenance including mowing, trimming, pruning, and upkeep of school grounds.
• Construct, repair, and maintain athletic fields, playgrounds, and related equipment.
• Lay out and mark athletic fields per district standards.
• Install, maintain, and repair fencing, blacktop, and concrete surfaces.
• Operate snow removal equipment to maintain safe access in winter.
• Transport mail, packages, materials, and food service items between locations.
• Load and unload materials safely and efficiently.
• Coordinate with vendors to communicate service expectations and ensure task completion.
• Maintain stock levels and obtain necessary materials.
