Job summary

Palmyra Area School District is seeking a full-time Grounds Custodian to maintain turf fields, turf house, athletic fields and exterior areas. This 40-hour per week position includes daytime hours with possible evenings and weekend events based on event schedules.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Must provide PA clearances paid for by Palmyra Area School District (PA Child Abuse, PA Criminal, FBI).
• Must be able to work independently with or without supervision.
• Hourly pay rate of $16.49 - $19.79 depending upon experience.
• Working hours may include evenings and weekend events for turf fields.
• Must be able to report for snow removal.

Responsibilities

• Grounds maintenance: mowing, trimming, weeding, mulching, power washing, fertilizing, lining of athletic fields, turf field maintenance.
• Potential pool chemical testing (certification paid by the District).
• Cleaning classrooms, offices, bathrooms, hallways/stairwells, multi-purpose rooms, windows, etc.
• Daily trash removal.
• Athletic event set-up and tear down.
• Minor maintenance fixes/work orders.

Job description

Palmyra Area School District is seeking applicants for a full-time Grounds Custodian. The Grounds Custodian will primarily focus on the maintenance of turf fields, turf house, athletic fields, and exteriors of all of our buildings. This is a full-time 40-hour per week position and will have a varied schedule based upon preparation for athletic events and event schedules. If no events are scheduled, grounds work will primarily daytime hours but would need to also be available for evenings and weekend events if the turf is being used. The schedule would be determined weekly based on events. If offered a position, upon completion of all required employment paperwork, you may begin to work immediately!

Qualifications For Our Full-time Grounds Custodian Position

• Must be at least 18 years of age or older
• Must be able to provide the required clearances for Pennsylvania - and they are paid for by Palmyra Area School District!
• PA Child Abuse Clearance
• PA Criminal Clearance
• FBI Clearance
• Must be able to work independently with or without supervision
• Hourly pay rate of $16.49 - $19.79 depending upon experience
• Working hours:
• Weekly schedule may be adjusted to accommodate evening and weekend events for our turf fields
• Paid holidays; if work is available on a paid holiday the pay is time and a half
• Overtime hours available
• Must be able to report for snow removal
• Must possess a positive attitude, be energetic, be a team player and take pride in your work

Responsibilities For Our Grounds Custodian Position

• Grounds maintenance to include, but not limited to: mowing, trimming, weeding, mulching, power washing, fertilizing, lining of athletic fields, and maintenance of the turf fields
• Potential of pool chemical testing (certification will be required, which the District will pay the applicant to attend classes to gain certification)
• Cleaning classrooms, offices, bathrooms, hallways/stairwells, multi-purpose rooms, windows, etc.
• Daily trash removal
• Athletic event set-up and tear down
• Minor maintenance fixes/work orders
• Transferring items to different locations within the buildings, including lifting boxes
• Summer cleaning as assigned
