Job summary

Shield AI in Dallas seeks a Ground System Software Engineer to design, develop, and maintain software for the X-BAT Platform, building ground control stations and mission planning tools for safe drone operations.

You will work across autonomy, embedded systems, UX, and cloud integration, delivering high‑performance full‑stack apps with React and TypeScript, while ensuring low‑latency, scalable, secure networked systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/Software Engineering/Robotics or related field required.
• 5+ years of professional software development for Senior level; 7+ for Staff level.
• Proficiency in strongly typed languages (C#, TypeScript, Java, C++) and exposure to lower‑level systems/protocols.
• Experience with web technologies (React, TypeScript/JavaScript, Node.js).
• Strong fundamentals: version control, testing, debugging, performance profiling.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize next‑gen ground control software for low‑latency UAV communications.
• Build high‑performance full‑stack apps for telemetry processing, fusion, and mission planning.
• Implement responsive UIs with React and TypeScript for telemetry readout and operator workflows.
• Collaborate with autonomy, embedded, UX teams to deliver integrated field‑ready solutions.
• Contribute to architecture decisions to ensure responsiveness, scalability, and fault‑tolerance.
• Lead or participate in features, from design through deployment and iteration.
• Write high‑quality, well‑tested code and participate in peer reviews.
