Job summary

Rocket Lab is seeking a Ground Systems Engineer II specializing in Structures and Mechanisms at Wallops Island, VA. You will design launch pad assets, large mechanisms, and vehicle interfaces, using NX and SolidWorks for 2D/3D modeling, while performing sizing, analyses, and hazard assessments.

Qualifications

• ABET accredited Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• 2+ years of experience in directly applicable design, testing, and/or operations within aerospace or industrial sectors.
• Experience in the design of large structures and mechanisms.
• Proficiency in CAD software (NX, SolidWorks).

Responsibilities

• Design launch pad and test site fixed assets and launch mounts.
• Develop and maintain large mechanisms such as umbilicals and hold downs.
• Create 2D/3D models using NX; perform sizing and analyses.
• Produce risk assessments, FMEAs, and system hazard analyses.
• Collaborate with test and operations teams to ensure readiness.
