Qualifications

  • High School Diploma and 4 years’ experience as a ground support equipment mechanic or equivalent.
  • Experience in electrical, fluid dynamics, HVAC, diesel maintenance or cryogenics.
  • Must meet physical requirements and be able to lift heavy objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to obtain DoD Secret clearance and Special Program access.

Responsibilities

  • Performs scheduled maintenance and in-depth repair on aircraft ground support equipment.
  • Reviews maintenance records to ensure equipment is operational in daily use.
  • Uses basic hand tools and precision measuring devices.
  • Works from blueprints, schematics, drawings and manuals.
  • Troubleshoots and diagnoses repairs of Ground Support Equipment.
  • May instruct lower-level mechanics in technical aspects.

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Ground Support Equipment Technician 3 to join the team of qualified individuals. Position is located in either at Edwards AFB, CA.

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Performs scheduled maintenance and in-depth repair asrequiredonaircraftground support equipment.
  • Reviews maintenance records of periodic maintenance to ensure equipment is fully operational in support of daily equipment requirements.
  • Uses an assortment of basic hand tools in addition to precision measuring devices.
  • Works from complex written instructions such as formal test specifications, blueprints, drawings, schematics, and manuals.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose simple and complex repairs of Ground Support Equipment.
  • May instructlower-levelmechanics in technical aspects of Ground Support Equipment work.
  • Exercisesappropriate safetymeasures.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills arerequired.
  • Will be working side-by-side with U.S. Government, military, and contractor personnel at Edwards AFB, CA.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High SchoolDiplomaand4years’ experience as a ground support equipment mechanicorequivalent.
  • Experience in at least one of the following disciplines: electrical, fluid dynamics, HVAC, diesel maintenance, or cryogenics.
  • Ability to perform physical requirements of the job (prolonged physical exertions, including standing, lifting, pushing, pulling, squatting, bending, kneeling,climbingand working in awkward positions and tight areas). Be physically active forlong periodsand use muscles to lift, push, pull, or carry heavy objects exceeding 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to support a 4/10 – 3/10 workingrotation, both first and second shift, to support operations.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Officeprograms.
  • Mustpossessa valid state issued driver’s license.
  • U.S. Citizenshiprequired.
  • Mustbe able to obtainandmaintaina DoD Secret Security Clearance. Final clearancerequiredto start.
  • Must be able to obtain andmaintainSpecial Program Access clearance within 365 days from date of submission; this is a condition of employment. Program Accessrequiredtostart.
  • Must be detail oriented, teamwork oriented, and have a strong work ethic.
  • Must be able to learn and follow established processes, procedures, and requirements.
  • Must be willing to work on-site at Edwards AFB, CA.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 6+ years’ experience Aerospace Ground Equipment (AGE) operations, or related fields.
  • Proficiencyin interpretingblueprints, sketches, layouts, wiring diagrams, drawings, and specifications.
  • EPA Refrigerant Certification.
  • Maintenance database experience (ALIS, FMT, IMDS, etc.)
  • Experience in a militaryaircraft,flight line environments; with relevant certifications.
  • Forklift operation experience.
  • Experience in tool and FOD control processes and procedures.
  • HAZMAT experience and/or certifications.
  • Forklift experience and/or certifications.

Primary Level Salary Range: $61,100.00 - $101,800.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate’s experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
