Piedmont Airlines is seeking a Ground Support Equipment Mechanic to perform routine maintenance and repairs on ground support equipment and automobiles. The role reports to the Regional Manager, GSE, and requires hands-on mechanical skills, physical stamina, and a valid driver’s license. Flexible shifts include weekends and nights.

Starting rate is $21.86 per hour. Benefi ts include medical/dental coverage, 401(k), vacation, and family travel on the American Airlines network.

Qualifications

• Experience or training as automotive mechanic
• Ability to read and interpret manuals and basic computer skills
• Physical ability to perform required duties including lifting up to 70 pounds regularly and 100+ pounds with assistance

The primary responsibility of the position is to perform routine maintenance as well as minor/major repairs of ground equipment and automobiles. This position will report to the Regional Manager, Ground Support Equipment.Essential Duties:Repair and overhaul of ground support equipmentTroubleshoot and maintain equipment in a safe conditionPerform preventative and routine servicingMaintain tools and support equipment in safe and operational working conditionsKeep work areas clean and free of hazardsJob Qualifications and Competencies:Previous experience or training as an automotive mechanicPossess effective communication skills both verbal and writtenBasic computer skillsPreferred Qualifications:Post-secondary degree or training programExperienced with automotive, truck or heavy machinery including gas, diesel, and electric equipmentWork Environment:Use of telephones, computers, and other office equipmentAirport ramp environment, subject to varied weather conditions and elevated noise levelsAll shifts including weekends, nights, holidays and/or irregular shiftsPhysical Requirements:Frequent stooping, bending, kneeling, walking, standing, reaching, lifting, climbing up and down stairsHandle objects up to 70 pounds regularly, up to 100+ pounds occasionally, with assistance from co-workers or toolsThe above statements provide a brief description of the general nature of work performed and are not intended to be a complete list of responsibilities, duties, and skills required for this position.
