Varda Space Industries in El Segundo, CA, is seeking a Mission Software Engineer II responsible for our critical ground segment software and the platform it runs on, enabling spacecraft operations across telemetry, commanding, data acquisition, and mission control interfaces.

You will work hands-on with flight software, avionics, RF/ground systems, and mission ops, building reliable, real-time services, UIs, and CI/CD tooling to support deployment across lab, test range, and orbital environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, math, physics, engineering or equivalent safety‑critical software experience.
• 3+ years building spacecraft or safety‑critical software.
• Proficiency in Python and core language concepts.
• Strong systems fundamentals: concurrency, networking, performance, reliability.
• Experience with real‑time data acquisition, scaling and distribution services.
• Hands‑on with CI/CD, dependency/build systems, and IaC.
• End‑to‑end observability: logging, metrics, tracing.
• Experience with Docker/Kubernetes and phased rollouts.

Responsibilities

• Own Ground Segment Services for telemetry ingestion, scaling, distribution, and commanding.
• Develop Mission Control Interfaces and operator UIs to reduce cognitive load.
• Build tools for flight‑software simulations, device emulators, and automated tests.
• Design and productionize software for mission and ground teams; CI/CD pipelines, artifact management, and IaC.
• Create deployment patterns for lab benches, test stands, and mission networks.
