Job summary

Texas Materials, a CRH company, seeks a Ground Man Laborer to support San Saba construction operations. You will work in a team with co-workers and managers to perform tasks safely and efficiently on site.

The role requires following safety policies, using equipment properly, and complying with OSHA/MSHA regulations. Candidates must be able to lift and move materials, work outdoors, and handle varied daily tasks.

Qualifications

  • Minimum high school diploma or GED.
  • Previous construction experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Job Description Summary

The selected candidate will be required to work in a team environment with other co-workers and managers.

  • Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task.
  • Properly follow all company policies and OSHA / MSHA regulations for safe working procedures and environment.
  • Report any problems to your manager.
  • Follow directions of manager as to daily tasks and expectations for each specific project.
  • Clean up around plant and surrounding area.
  • Operate and maintain various vehicles, machinery and other equipment used at the site.
  • Lift, carry and hold materials, tools and supplies.
  • Responsible for upkeep of tools and work area.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Work Requirements
  • Pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.
  • Pass a pre-employment "Fit for Work" physical.
  • Be able to provide valid documentation for the I-9 Immigration document.
  • Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors and the general public at all times.
  • Must be able to stoop, bend, climb ladders and extended stairways.
  • Will be able to pick up 50lbs. to the waist wand carry it 100 feet.
  • Must be able to work at heights around hazardous plant equipment.
  • Ability to operate various pieces of heavy equipment, depending on the job site, accurately, efficiently and safely.
  • Lubricate and perform general maintenance on the equipment.
  • Ability to follow directions.
  • Report to work at the designated start time.
  • Be able to work days, night weekends and overtime when required.
  • Be willing to work outdoors in extreme temperatures, both hot and cold.
  • Must have good eyesight and be able to walk on rough terrain.
  • Strictly adhere to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Must be able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to do routine paperwork.
  • Have the willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
  • Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA and / or MSHA.
  • Be at least age 18 years of age due to nature of working environment.
Education/Experience
  • Minimum high school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Previous related experience in construction field is preferred.
