Job summary
American Heritage Schools is seeking a Ground Maintenance Technician to keep school grounds visually appealing and safe. You will perform mowing, edging, fertilizing, planting, irrigation maintenance, and seasonal prep, reporting to the Outside Maintenance Manager. Must have a high school diploma; landscape experience is a plus.
Role involves physical work in varied weather, with opportunities for growth and participation in company benefits as listed.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- Landscape or grounds maintenance experience preferred but not required.
Responsibilities
- Mow, edge, and fertilize lawns.
- Weed and mulch landscape beds.
- Trim hedges, shrubs, and small trees.
- Remove dead, damaged, or unwanted trees.
- Plant flowers, trees, and shrubs.
- Water lawns, landscapes, and gardens.
- Monitor and maintain plant health.
- Operating and maintaining garden and landscaping equipment.
- Prepare outdoor areas for various weather conditions by weatherproofing and tidying.
- Install or maintain sprinkler and irrigation systems.

The Ground Maintenance Technician is to ensure that the grounds of the school campus are maintained, orderly, and healthy in order to provide a visually appealing and safe outdoor environment.
- Mow, edge, and fertilize lawns
- Weed and mulch landscape beds
- Trim hedges, shrubs, and small trees
- Remove dead, damaged, or unwanted trees
- Plant flowers, trees, and shrubs
- Water lawns, landscapes, and gardens
- Monitor and maintain plant health
- Operating and maintaining garden and landscaping equipment
- Preparing outdoor areas for various weather conditions by weatherproofing, covering outdoor furniture with tarps, tidying down unsecured items, etc.
- Installing or maintaining sprinkler and irrigation systems
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Landscape or grounds maintenance experience preferred but not required
- Self-motivated
- Familiarity with sprinkler systems and other landscaping equipment
- Knowledge of gardening techniques and products such as fertilizers and pesticides
- Maintenance Building/Shop
- Extreme/various weather conditions
- Physical stamina
- Ability to stand, kneel, or walk for long periods of time
- Ability to lift 60 pounds
