The Ground Instructor plays an important role in the development, delivery, and continuous improvement of JSX’s Pilot and Flight Attendant training programs. You’ll facilitate classroom and online training for Initial, Upgrade, Transition, and Recurrent programs while ensuring training is properly documented and certified in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements. Beyond the classroom, you’ll partner closely with the Manager of Training to maintain training materials, support program development, and identify ways to deliver effective, industry-leading training efficiently. You’ll also have opportunities to collaborate with the broader JSX training team and support learning initiatives across the organization.

A Day in the Life

In this role, you’ll:

  • Deliver engaging classroom and online instruction supporting Initial, Upgrade, Transition, and Recurrent training for JSX Pilots and Flight Attendants.
  • Help ensure Crewmembers successfully complete required training programs and meet established training standards.
  • Accurately record and certify completed training in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Advise and assist the Manager of Training on matters related to JSX Pilot and Flight Attendant training programs.
  • Maintain the Pilot Training Manual and support revisions as training or regulatory requirements evolve.
  • Develop and improve training curriculum, presentations, graphics, and interactive learning materials.
  • Evaluate training methods and recommend effective, cost-efficient approaches for delivering required training.
  • Continuously identify opportunities to improve the quality, effectiveness, and efficiency of JSX training programs.
  • Support other members of the JSX training team responsible for Crewmember training outside of Pilot and Flight Attendant programs.
  • Contribute to additional training initiatives, projects, and operational needs as assigned.
Why You’ll Love This Role
  • Make an Impact in the Classroom: Help prepare Pilots and Flight Attendants with the knowledge and skills they need to operate safely and successfully.
  • Shape the Learning Experience: Develop engaging curriculum, graphics, and interactive content that makes complex aviation topics easier to understand.
  • Support Safety & Compliance: Play an important role in ensuring required training is delivered, documented, and maintained to regulatory standards.
  • Keep Getting Better: Help evaluate existing programs and identify new ways to make training more effective, engaging and efficient.
  • Collaborate Across JSX: Work alongside training professionals and operational experts while supporting learning throughout the organization.
What Makes a Successful Ground Instructor?
  • Engaging: You’re comfortable presenting to groups, facilitating discussion, and creating an environment where Crewmembers can learn effectively.
  • Aviation-Minded: You understand aviation terminology, processes, and the importance of accuracy in a regulated operating environment.
  • Communicative: You can explain technical information clearly and adapt your approach to different audiences and learning needs.
  • Creative: You can turn information into effective presentations, graphics, and interactive training content.
  • Detail-Oriented: You understand the importance of accurate training records, current manuals, and properly documented regulatory training.
  • Collaborative: You work effectively with instructors, leaders, and operational teams to improve training outcomes.
  • Entrepreneurial: You take initiative and continuously look for better, more efficient ways to develop and deliver high-quality training.
