Job summary

General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. is seeking a Laboratory Technician to perform fabrication, modification, installation, and maintenance of complex lab and experimental equipment. You will set up, run, and document tests, and summarize data for project teams.

Qualifications

• Ability to work on systems with unusual conditions such as high pressure, high voltage, high energy, cryogens, or radioactive materials.
• Knowledge of computer operations and applications pertinent to the field.
• Analytical ability to understand detailed instructions, drawings and specifications.
• Ability to diagnose complex mechanical/electrical problems and find effective solutions.
• Special skills to use complex equipment or experimental techniques.
• Communication skills to write and record precise information.
• Ability to obtain and maintain DoD Security clearance is desired.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate, modify, install, and document complex laboratory, experimental or commercial equipment.
• Interpret general instructions, plan sequence of assembly, maintain QA documentation and prepare sketches.
• Assist in designing basic lab, experimental, and commercial equipment.
• Operate specialized equipment and perform tests requiring knowledge of processes relevant to the organization.
• Execute a set of laboratory experiments or a complex laboratory function.
• Record, reduce, and summarize experimental data.
• Diagnose and correct operational problems or trouble sources in equipment or tests.
• Track, maintain, adjust, and validate employee timecards.
• Monitor scheduled calibration intervals for equipment.
• Order parts and supplies.
• Work extended hours when necessary to meet production throughput schedule.
• Ensure proper PPE is worn by personnel.
• Screen reports and update Production Status Boards.
• Prioritize production and deport workloads.
• Generate and disposition Non-Conformance Reports.
• Observe all laws, regulations and obligations for the company.
• Perform routine laboratory duties including housekeeping and other duties as assigned.

Job Summary

Performs and/or assists in fabrication, modification, assembly, installation, operation, repair and maintenance of complex laboratory, experimental and commercial equipment. Sets up and performs complex experiments and tests. Records, reduces and summarizes data.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Responsible for fabrication, modification, installation, and documentation of complex laboratory, experimental or commercial equipment.
• Interprets general instructions, plans sequence of assembly, maintains quality assurance documentation and prepares sketches and schematics.
• May assist in the design of basic lab, experimental, and commercial equipment.
• Operates specialized equipment and/or performs tests requiring knowledge of processes pertinent to the organization, program or project.
• Responsible for execution of a set of laboratory experiments or for a complex laboratory function.
• Collects, records, reduces, and summarizes experimental data.
• Diagnoses and corrects operational problems or trouble sources in equipment or tests.
• Interprets basic information displayed to recognize when various operating measurements are drifting out of established parameters.
• Adjusts operating parameters to bring systems back to satisfactory operating conditions.
• Develops solutions to problems that occur including assisting in the design of specialized components.
• May provide direction to other technicians or craft personnel in construction and maintenance of equipment, operation of tests, or laboratory.
• Track, maintain, adjust, and validate employee timecards.
• Monitor scheduled calibration intervals for equipment.
• Perform equipment inventories.
• Order parts and supplies.
• On occasion, be able to work extended hours when necessary to meet production throughput schedule.
• Ensure proper PPE is appropriately worn by personnel.
• Screen reports and update Tier 1 and Tier 2 Production Status Boards
• Prioritize production and deport workloads.
• Generate and disposition Non-Conformance Reports.
• Responsible for observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.
• Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
• Additional Functions:
• Carries out a variety of routine laboratory duties including housekeeping and clean up.
• Other duties as assigned or required.

Job Type: Full-Time Hourly Salary range: 60,670 - 90,198
