Responsibilities include bathing, brushing, clipping, and inspecting pets for health concerns while maintaining equipment and grooming areas. Prior experience or completion of a grooming program is required, with certification preferred.

Club-K9is one of the largest dog care facilities in the DMV area, featuring over 50,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor fun for your pet! We offer a variety of services, including daycare, boarding, training, workouts, and grooming. We created this facility because we wanted more than the basic play areas and boring walks offered by traditional daycares. We envisioned a country club experience for your furry friends, complete with abundant play space, engaging activities like pack walks and trail paths, and much more.

We are now searching for a Dog Groomer who will provide exceptional customer service and care for our clients and their pets. Reporting directly to the General Manager or Assistant Manager, our Dog Groomer will be part of a dynamic and energetic team. In this role, you will enhance the appearance and health of pets, consult with owners to understand their preferences, and maintain a safe and calming grooming environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform all grooming tasks, including bathing, brushing, drying, clipping, trimming, nail clipping, ear cleaning, and teeth brushing.
• Assess dogs’ coats, skin conditions, and temperaments to determine appropriate grooming techniques and products.
• Consult with pet owners to understand specific grooming preferences and styles.
• Ensure a safe and calming grooming environment to reduce stress for pets.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of grooming areas, tools, and equipment.
• Identify and report potential health issues (e.g., skin irritations, infections, parasites) to pet owners.
• Adhere to safety protocols and company policies related to dog care and grooming.
• Monitor and respond to dogs’ behavior during grooming to ensure their safety and well-being.

Qualifications

Required:

• Proven experience as a dog groomer or completion of a grooming program.
• Knowledge of various dog breeds and their specific grooming needs.
• Ability to handle and restrain dogs of various sizes and temperaments with care.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Attention to detail and ability to recognize changes in pet health or behavior.
• Basic understanding of animal behavior and stress management techniques.
• Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive grooming tasks.

Preferred:

• Certification from a recognized grooming institution (e.g., National Dog Groomers Association of America).
• Experience in a professional pet care or veterinary environment.
• First aid training for animals.
