Job description

The Pet Stylist is instrumental in providing high-quality grooming services to clients, supporting the overall success of the animal hospital. The role involves bathing, brushing, clipping, and other grooming services for domestic pets, typically dogs and cats.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Duties/Responsibilities:

1. Perform the full range of grooming services daily for dogs and cats.
2. Understand and meet the client’s needs effectively.
3. Communicate effectively and friendly with clients.
4. Perform standard grooming techniques and learn new skills.
5. Follow the organization’s pricing philosophy.
6. Learn and implement operational procedures.
7. Care for all pets with respect, kindness, and sensitivity.
8. Clean and disinfect the salon, equipment, and grooming tools daily.
9. Read, write, and communicate in English.

Required Skills/Abilities:

1. Proven ability to groom dogs and cats safely and efficiently.
2. Understand dog and cat behavior, body language, and temperament.
3. Effective oral and written communication skills.
4. Deliver excellent customer service.
5. Knowledge of sanitation of grooming tools and supplies.

Physical Requirements:

1. Ability to stand for long periods.
2. Ability to walk, use hands and fingers, reach, hunch over pets, kneel, crouch, squat, lift, and crawl.
3. Push and pull equipment; frequently lift or move up to 40 pounds; request assistance for heavier pets.
4. Ability to hear pets and see clearly to perform grooming tasks.
