Job summary

Destination Pet is seeking a skilled groomer to join our Bass Pet Resort team. You will groom a wide range of breeds, trim nails, clean ears, and ensure a calm, safe experience for every dog.

Strong communication with owners and teammates is essential, as is ability to work in a fast-paced, active environment. We offer a choice between hourly pay for the first 60 days or commission-based pay with additional commissions on baths.

Qualifications

• Proven experience grooming a wide range of breeds and coat types.
• Professional grooming experience is required.
• You communicate clearly with clients, teammates, and pets.

Responsibilities

• Snipping, shaping, and styling pets per owner preferences or breed standards.
• Trim nails, clean ears, brush teeth, and tidy the tail end.
• Bathing dogs or coordinating with bathers for grooming prep.
• Chatting with pet parents about grooming needs and coat care.
• Keep station neat, tools sharp, and provide a calm, safe experience for every animal.

What You Should Know:

• Professional grooming experience is required.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs, stand for long periods, and manage large or nervous dogs safely.
• Exposure to fur, cleaning chemicals, wet pups, ahem, “accidents” and unpredictable zoomies is guaranteed.
• Must be able to work in a physically active environment with heat, cold, water, and noise.

• Time management, attention to detail, and a customer-first mindset.
• Familiarity with pet behavior, stress signals, and safe handling practices.
• You communicate clearly—with clients, teammates, and even the pets.
• Reliable, calm under pressure, and excited to keep learning.
• You love animals and treat each one like they’re your own.

What You’ll Be Doing (Besides Making Dogs Look Fur-bulous):

• Snipping, shaping, and styling pets based on owner preferences or breed standards.
• Trimming nails, cleaning ears, brushing teeth, and tidying up the tail end.
• Bathing dogs (or working with bathers to prep pets for grooming).
• Chatting with pet parents about grooming needs, coat care, and what’s trending in tails.
• Keeping your station neat, your tools sharp, and your vibe fresh.
• Tagging in the front desk when pups are fluffed, puffed, and ready for pickup.
• Providing a calm, kind, safe experience for every animal in your care.
• Representing Destination Pet’s values of compassion, quality, and community.
