Job description

The Groomer is responsible for providing professional grooming services to our valued clients’ pets. They will work closely with pet owners to ensure that all owner instructions and/or breed standards are met. They are responsible for the safety and well-being of all animals while in the care of the Grooming Service and will work with the Kennel Manager to develop and maintain policies/procedures to ensure a smooth and effective flow of daily operations in the area.

Some of the duties include:

1. Oversee and execute daily operations in the service to achieve excellent patient care and client service outcomes.
2. Perform grooming services including nail trims, ear cleaning, bathing, brushing, cutting and styling adhering to breed standards and pet owners’ preferences.
3. Admit and discharge pets from their grooming appointments.
4. Work closely with Kennel Manager to coordinate walking/feeding of pets while housed in Grooming department.
5. Educate pet owners on grooming maintenance and at-home care practices to promote overall well-being of their pets.

Physical Requirements:

1. Able to stoop, bend, kneel and stand for prolonged periods of time, up to 80-100% of entire shift.
2. Able to move patients weighing 40lbs repeatedly. Over 40lbs with assistance.
3. Must be able to frequently position self in a manner to attend to patients at varying heights, including floor and grooming table levels (3-4 feet in height).
4. Must be able to constantly move about within the department.
