Job summary

Green Leaf Oakhurst, part of Digs Dog Care, seeks a Groom Tech to deliver safe, skilled grooming services and assist groomers with handling dogs. You will help bathe, dry, and trim nails, keep stations clean, and support kennel and daycare tasks in a fast-paced, pet‑loving environment.

The role requires a genuine love for animals, calm focus, and the ability to work flexible hours, including weekends. Training is provided, and the team values hospitality, teamwork, and high standards of care

About the role

Groom Techs are essential to the Green Leaf grooming experience—responsible for providing safe, skilled, and attentive grooming services to every dog in our care. Groom Techs are trained in bathing, drying, and nail trims, and assist groomers with handling dogs during grooming services. This role requires genuine love for animals, a steady hand, and the ability to stay calm and focused in a fast‑paced environment. Groom Techs are also cross‑trained to assist with kennel and daycare duties as needed. Groom Techs maintain the cleanliness and organization of the grooming space, monitor dog health and behavior throughout each service, and communicate any concerns promptly to their supervisor. A Groom Tech embodies the Digs standard: treating every pup like family and delivering the premium, attentive care our pet parents count on.

Responsibilities

• Groom Techs will be trained to provide grooming duties including bathing, drying, and nail trims.
• Assist groomers with handling dogs during the grooming service.
• Groom Techs will be cross‑trained as kennel techs and will assist in other areas as needed.
• Monitor and proactively address dog health, skin, coat condition, and behavior during grooming; report any concerns to your supervisor immediately—zero tolerance for non‑approved handling methods.
• Deliver a hospitality‑first experience by engaging warmly with every dog and making each grooming visit feel welcoming and stress‑free.
• Keep grooming stations, tubs, and tools clean and sanitized between each dog, including proper use of cleaning chemicals.
• Follow all feeding, medication, and allergy protocols for every animal in care.
• Sanitize grooming equipment, dryers, tables, and accessories; restock grooming supplies as needed.
• Assist with lobby customer relations, ensuring pet parents feel informed and at ease before and after grooming services.
• Pitch in on additional tasks that contribute to the overall culture, pet wellbeing, and hospitality experience.
• Work respectfully with teammates and maintain a positive, professional attitude at all times.

Qualifications

• Describe the experience and attributes of the ideal candidate.
• Knowledge of basic dog behaviors and body language, or a strong desire to learn modern, compassionate animal care methods.
• Familiarity with grooming tools, equipment, and safe handling practices.
• Customer service experience preferred.
• Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
• Ability to handle animals safely and confidently, including large/giant breed dogs.
• Ability to follow directions closely (written and verbal).
• Strong ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to remain calm and level‑headed with a pleasant demeanor.
• Physically able to lift and carry dogs and equipment weighing up to 40 lb., bend, and stand for long periods.
• Comfortable working indoors with dogs of all sizes and temperaments.
• Available for flexible scheduling, including holidays and at least one weekend day.

Pay Range

16 – 16 USD per hour (Greenleaf Oakhurst)
