Overview

Provides support as a member of the Grocery team to receive and prepare product, maintain the grocery floor and displays, and sell product in support of Whole Foods Market (WFM) standards. Performs all functions related to breaking down deliveries and stocking shelves. All Team Members must provide courteous, friendly, and efficient service to customers and other Team Members, and perform duties in accordance with store Standard Operating Procedures. Team Members should be prepared to perform the duties inherent in other Team Member job descriptions and strive to support WFM core values and goals, promote national, regional, and store programs, and adhere to health, safety, and regulatory requirements in the department.

Responsibilities
  • Ensures a fresh and appealing display by keeping cases and shelves clean and well stocked, front-facing, rotating stock, checking codes, and removing out-of-date products.
  • Stock and clean grocery shelves, bulk bins, frozen and dairy cases.
  • Monitor and prevent spoilage and communicate waste to buyers, Team Leaders, and shift supervisor.
  • Maintain back stock in good order.
  • Assist with sampling program, keeping sample areas full, clean, and appealing.
  • Complete spoilage, sampling, temperature, and sweep worksheets as required.
  • Assist with periodic inventory checks.
  • Arrive on time to work station, appropriately groomed, dressed, and ready to work; work all scheduled shifts and attend required trainings and meetings.
  • Provide excellent customer service, address customer needs promptly and effectively, and model suggestive selling techniques; answer phones and pages promptly and courteously.
  • Maximize sales potential through proper prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising of product.
  • Follow and comply with established procedures, including Weights and Measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment; keep equipment in accordance with WFM cleanliness and safety standards.
  • Perform opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned; ensure accuracy of signs and pricing.
  • Immediately report safety hazards and violations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by store, regional, or national leadership.
Job Skills

  • Proactively reads labels and familiarizes oneself with various products.

Experience

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
  • In an 8-hour work day: standing/walking 6-8 hours.
  • Hand use: gripping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling.
  • Move and operate in environments requiring bending, twisting, squatting and reaching.
  • Exposure to FDA-approved cleaning chemicals.
  • Exposure to temperatures from freezing to hot environments.
  • Ability to work in a wet and cold environment.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Ability to use tools and equipment, including box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery.

The wage range for this position is $19.00-$25.40 per hour, commensurate with experience. New entry level Team Members who successfully complete their first 90 days and remain employed in an eligible role may be eligible for a base rate increase after their 90-day anniversary.
