Skagit Valley Food Co-Op in Mount Vernon, WA is seeking part-time Grocery Clerks to deliver friendly customer service, merchandise, stock shelves, rotate products, and maintain clean aisles in a fast-paced environment.

Two positions available with Saturday-Monday morning shifts and Wednesday-Friday evening shifts. Must be 18+, high school diploma, and food handler card; benefits include health coverage and employee discounts.

Qualifications

• Experience in retail, preferably grocery or natural foods store.
• Provide excellent, professional customer service with a friendly, respectful demeanor.
• Ability to multitask, stay calm, prioritize and problem solve within guidelines.
• Teamwork, communication, and cooperative work style are essential.
• Regular, predictable attendance is required.
• Ability to work retail shifts including mornings, evenings and weekends.
• Food handler card is required.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Description

Grocery Clerks work in a fast paced, multitasked environment. Primary job duties include providing excellent customer service, merchandising, stocking, rotating product, and cleaning.

Wage Range: $19.00-$24.00 per hour

Part-time- 2 positions available

Saturday-Monday, AM shift

Wednesday-Friday, PM shift

Requirements

Essential Functions

• Provides excellent customer service, addresses needs of customers in a timely and effective manner
• Answers phone and pages promptly and courteously.
• Ensures that product is rotated, within date and properly displayed
• Accurately and neatly stocks products
• Pays close attention to product and shelf tags
• Cleans up aisle debris after stocking (cardboard, etc) before moving on to next aisle
• Follows all security measures
• Does not allow anyone in the store after hours
• Performs closing duties: clean bulk section, garbage, recycle cardboard, etc
• Keeps pace with the team, working harmoniously throughout the store
• Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Skills

• Experience working retail, preferably grocery or natural foods store
• Proven ability to provide excellent, professional customer service by projecting a friendly, outgoing presence and maintaining a respectful demeanor at all times
• Ability to handle multiple demands, remain calm, think quickly, prioritize effectively, and problem solve within established guidelines
• Ability to work well with others in a cooperative environment where teamwork, compassion and constant communication are essential
• Ability to meet expectations of regular, predictable attendance
• Ability to work retail shifts including mornings, evenings and weekends
• Ability to maintain current food handler card
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• High school diploma or equivalent

Essential Physical Requirements

• Prolonged standing and walking
• Frequent reaching, bending, twisting, and rotating
• Continuous fine motors skills work and gripping with hands
• Ability to lift 30 lbs. often, up to 70 lbs occasionally
• Exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals.
• Exposure to extreme temperatures (coolers, ovens, freezer, outdoors, etc.)
• Clear spoken English and ability to perceive spoken voice clearly
