Job summary

Meijer Inc. is seeking a Grocery Team Leader in Plainfield, IN to plan, direct and supervise store operations across departments.

You will mentor team members, drive sales, and ensure exceptional customer service while maintaining Meijer standards and a safe work environment. The ideal candidate has 1 year of management experience and 2–3 years in retail, with strong communication and conflict resolution skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 2–3 years of related retail experience.
• One year of management experience.
• Rotational assignments in meat, bakery, produce and deli; customer service and product flow experience helpful.
• Ability to communicate to team members clearly and provide direction.
• Demonstrated ability to resolve conflicts and address root causes.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Ability to analyze financial and statistical information for decisions.
• Ability to teach suggestive selling.
• Ability to lead a safety-conscious organization.
• Mentor team members including SDITs and hourly staff.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct and supervise team members in day-to-day store operations across departments.
• Mentor and coach the team, supporting development and promotions.
• Improve customer service and drive store sales while meeting customer needs.
• Maintain store appearance with focus on prime shopping hours, product presentation and standards.
• Staffing, selection and hiring to meet staffing needs.
• Promote succession planning and identify development needs for team members.
• Handle disciplinary actions and discharge recommendations as needed.
• Manage P&L, achieve sales, and maintain shrink for the department.
• Model exceptional, fast and friendly customer service.
• Communicate the Meijer Friendly Initiative in team meetings and conversations.
• Ensure thorough training for all roles and cross-training as needed.
• Maintain safety and a reliable attendance record.
