Job summary

Kroger Family of Companies is seeking a Courtesy Clerk/Grocery Bagger to deliver outstanding customer service at the checkout and help customers have a positive shopping experience.

This role involves bagging groceries, assisting customers to load bags, keeping shelves neat, informing customers of specials, and following safety and food handling guidelines.

You will work in a fast-paced store environment, perform basic maintenance, and help maintain a welcoming and safe store for all customers.

Responsibilities

• Courtesy Clerk/Grocery Bagger bag groceries at checkout for customers.
• Strive for at least five items per bag while ensuring contents are not damaged.
• Follow best practices for bagging items in reusable, plastic, and paper bags.
• Assist in removing merchandise from bottom of bascart for checkout.
• Offer to help customers load bags into their car.
• Perform basic shelf conditioning.
• Inform customers of grocery specials.
• Return merchandise to store shelves.
• Gather bascarts and return to designated areas.
• Clean spills, collect and pick up trash inside store and parking lot.
• Clean all areas inside and outside of store.
• Handle and assemble seasonal merchandise.
• Understand the store layout, locate products, and conduct price checks for cashiers.
• Reinforce safety programs by following procedures and notifying management of unsafe conditions.
• Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and reporting repairs.
• Create an environment that makes customers feel welcome and appreciated.
• Adhere to all local, state and federal laws and company guidelines.
• Ability to work cooperatively in a high paced and sometimes stressful environment.
• Ability to manage conflict in a calm, cooperative manner.
• Ability to act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
• Ability to follow directions and seek assistance to resolve issues.
• Provide support through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
