Safeway in Helena, MT is seeking a Grocery Department Supervisor to assist the Grocery Manager in directing day-to-day operations, including Frozen, Dairy and Liquor/Beer sections. You will supervise staff, train teammates, and ensure merchandising, pricing, and stocking are executed to standard.

The role requires strong leadership and communication skills, experience in retail management, and a commitment to safety and policy compliance.

Qualifications

• Extensive retail background with prior management experience in retail operations.
• Strong written and oral communication skills and leadership abilities.
• Ability to manage and develop staff and handle customer interactions with professionalism.

Responsibilities

• Assist Grocery Manager in directing daily grocery department operations and training staff.
• Oversee ordering, receiving, stocking, pricing, and merchandising activities.
• May act as back-up checker and drive suggestive selling techniques.
• Ensure accurate cash handling and daily financial reconciliations.
• Prepare night stock lists and manage pricing updates.
• Control shrink and prevent sale of out-of-code products.
• Open and close store and ensure policy compliance.
• Implement emergency procedures for equipment or software failures.
• Supervise all store employees in the absence of managers.
• HandleReceiving Clerk duties when needed.
• Perform all duties with honesty and integrity.
• Carry out additional duties as assigned.
