Job summary

Eataly, the world’s largest artisanal Italian food marketplace, is seeking a Market Assistant Manager to oversee Front End, Grocery and Housewares. reporting to Market Assistant Manager of Retail, you will manage the Cashiers and Market Associates.

You will drive profitability while maintaining guest experience, hire and train staff, create promotion grids, monitor stock, coordinate with Marketing and Facilities, and analyze financial data to boost sales.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree
• 1+ year of retail management experience in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills
• Solid analytical skills
• Experience with cash management, purchasing and managing inventory
• Knowledge of Italian products and brands
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office

Responsibilities

• Oversee Front End, Grocery and Housewares to maximize profitability while upholding standards
• Manage team members: hires, schedules, trains, motivates, payroll, evaluations
• Create monthly promotion grid, design layout and promotional spots
• Maintain orderly store aesthetic; ensure saleable merchandise on shelves
• Monitor stock levels and order supplies as needed
• Process delivery orders, unload stock trucks, generate monthly reports
• Coordinate with Marketing and Facilities on layout updates
• Help analyze financial data and develop strategies to increase efficiency and sales
• Perform other duties as required

Job Description

Eataly’s bustling marketplaces feature a rich variety of unique, high-quality Italian and local products. The Market Assistant Manager helps oversee the Front End, Grocery and Housewares departments. Reports to the Market Assistant Manager of Retail; manages the Cashiers for Front End, as well as the Market Associates for Grocery and Housewares.

• Assists the Market Manager in organizing and directing the store’s Front End, Grocery and Housewares departments to maximize profitability while upholding the company’s mission, values, policies, quality and guest experience standards
• Manages the team members in Front End, Grocery and Housewares: hires, schedules, trains, motivates, submits payroll, evaluates
• Assists in creating the monthly promotion grid and designs the layout and promotional spots in the store with saleable merchandise according to Eataly’s policies
• Maintains an orderly store aesthetic: ensures that only saleable merchandise is placed on the grocery shelves and promptly handles deleted, expired or otherwise non-saleable merchandise
• Monitors stock levels and orders or requisitions supplies and merchandise as needed
• Processes delivery orders, unloads stock trucks from distribution centers, and generates monthly reports
• Communicates and coordinates with the Marketing and Facilities departments on updates or issues with the overall layout of product and fixtures in the store
• Helps Market Manager analyze financial data and develops strategies to increase efficiencies and drive sales
• Performs other duties as required or assigned

Job Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and spend up to 8 hours walking or standing in a retail environment
• Ability to operate equipment such as a hand truck or cash register as needed
• Availability to work a flexible schedule sometimes including evenings, weekends and holidays

Compensation: Pay range is set at $25 - $30 an hour
