• Maintain product freshness and proper handling, with date controls.
• Greet and assist customers in a friendly, service-oriented manner.
• Monitor costs to improve grocery operations and manage labor cost and shrink.
• Oversee physical inventory, inbound deliveries, and report shortages/overages to suppliers.
• Support store needs by assisting in other areas as required.

Position Summary

The Grocery Manager oversees daily grocery operations and provides leadership and direction to achieve profitable grocery operations. The Grocery Manager is to continually grow the team's capacity for efficiency, effectiveness, and service to meet the company's succession needs. The individual is responsible for the development of all direct reports. The Grocery Manager is to be a role model of the company by driving results while maintaining company core values.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

The essential duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Responsible for ordering, vendor communications, compliance and sanitation, back-room inventory, and controls, and management of workplace and department safety, as well as reporting, financial control, and budget responsibilities;
• Assign employees to specific duties;
• Stock, rotate, and organize items on shelves as required;
• Ensure shelves are organized with product labels;
• Provide exceptional service and ensure the products are handled properly, date controls are performed, ensure freshest products are rotated properly so that they are available to customers;
• Greet and interact with customers to address questions or concerns in a friendly and service- oriented manner;
• Controls costs by constantly monitoring and improving Grocery operations to increase profitability, combined with managing labor costs, and reducing loss due to shrink;
• Oversee the preparation of store physical inventory for the Grocery department, the unloading of trucks from our distribution centers, and verify all deliveries against invoices, notes shortages, and overages and report them to the appropriate supplier;
• Provide flexibility by helping in any area in order to support store needs.

Skills And Qualifications

Physical Demands And Work Conditions

• WALKING: Continuously, throughout shift, while moving about the store and handling merchandise.
• STANDING: Continuously, throughout shift.
• LIFTING: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and occasionally lift up to 75 lbs.
