Job summary

Homeland is seeking an experienced Grocery Manager to lead the department and deliver outstanding customer service in a fast-paced retail environment.

You will greet customers, train and supervise store staff, plan weekly labor, organize displays, supervise stock and pricing, and ensure safe, clean facilities.

This role requires a High School Diploma or equivalent, prior supervisory and grocery experience, and a commitment to teamwork and STAR customer service.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and respond to questions/requests/ complaints, explaining store policies courteously.
• Orient/train new grocery staff and retrain existing employees as needed.
• Develop weekly labor schedules for all grocery staff for store-manager approval.
• Implement weekly end-aisle displays and ad promotions.
• Supervise ordering and stocking to minimize out-of-stocks and maintain inventory turns.
• Prepare backroom for receipt of merchandise, check loads for shortages/overages, sort cases for stocking.
• Ensure cleanliness of floors, lanes, carts, restrooms, and overall store safety with cleaning protocols.
• Count and record merchandise for inventory and perform price-marking for items without UPCs.
• Coordinate movement of damaged/unsalable products to backroom and manage signage and pricing updates.

Apply here today!Oklahomans Feeding Oklahomans.Grocery ManagerPrimary ResponsibilitiesTo greet customers, respond to customer questions/requests/complaints and explain store policies in a courteous manner.To make recommendations regarding the hiring, firing, discipline, promotion, and evaluation of all grocery department personnel.To orient/train all new grocery department employees and retrain employees when necessary.To develop a weekly labor schedule in a timely basis, for all grocery department employees for approval by the store manager.To implement the weekly display plan for end-aisle merchandising and ad promotion.To supervise/order all grocery products and supplies to minimize out-of-stocks while maintaining the desired grocery inventory turns.To supervise/perform preparation of the backroom for receipt of merchandise, checking of the load for shortage/overage, sorting of cases according to aisle or pallet for stocking, stocking of merchandise on shelf, building of displays, storage of back stock.To supervise/perform cleaning of store floors, check lanes, carts, restrooms, parking lot and shelves, and safe use of cleaning equipment and chemicals.To supervise/perform the loading of stocking carts/pallets, transportation of cases to the sales floor either on stocking carts or pallets, matching of the case strip to the shelf tag/stock, placement of merchandise in the designated shelf/display position/area, the "face/front" program for the front row of each display, the immediate pick up/removal of all broken containers, packing materials/boxes from the sales floor or customers’ pathway.To supervise/perform the counting and recording of individual items of merchandise for inventory.To supervise/perform the manual price-marking/labeling of merchandise without a UPC code.To supervise the movement of damaged/unsalable and "returnable" products from shelves to the backroom, sorting of the materials into bins and the return of damage to the reclaim center.To supervise/perform the changing of signs, light bulbs, tags and price markers.Good interpersonal communications; models teamwork and STAR Customer ServiceSUPERVISION RECEIVED: Grocery manager reports directly to the Store ManagerQualificationsAbove and Beyond Customer ServiceHigh School Diploma or EquivalentPrior supervisory experiencePrior grocery experienceSpecific tasksWork on tile or concrete for a maximum of 8 hours in duration.Move to supervise: the receiving of product, movement of product to the floor or storage area, opening/cutting of cases, inspect product quality, sorting of cases/merchandise, building of displays on the shelf and at end-aisles, the allocation of space in grocery categories, order merchandise and supplies, cleaning and maintenance, removal of trash/debris from the department, price-marking and signage throughout the store, approximate maximum 100 yards.Work Environment Note:Inside work with transitions of heat/cold/humidity/dust from entrance/back door/compressors/cooler/freezer.The above statements are intended to describe the general nature of work performed by the employees assigned to this job.
