Homeland is seeking an experienced Grocery Manager in Cordell, OK to lead the grocery department and deliver excellent customer service in a fast-paced store.

You will greet customers, supervise staff, develop weekly labor schedules, manage inventory, and execute end-aisle displays while maintaining store policies. This role emphasizes employee ownership and teamwork with open, part-time hours.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• Prior supervisory experience in grocery preferred.
• Experience in customer service and sales encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and respond to questions/requests in a courteous manner.
• Supervise and evaluate grocery department personnel, including hiring/disciplina tion and promotion decisions.
• Orient/train new grocery department employees and retrain as needed.
• Develop weekly labor schedules for grocery staff and obtain Store Manager approval.
• Implement weekly display plan for end-aisle merchandising and ad promotions.
• Supervise ordering and stocking to minimize out-of-stocks and maintain inventory turns.
• Prepare backroom for receipt of merchandise and check loads for discrepancies.
• Supervise cleaning of floors, lanes, carts, restrooms, and shelving; ensure safe use of equipment.

Grocery Manager

Primary Responsibilities

• To greet customers, respond to customer questions/requests/complaints and explain store policies in a courteous manner.
• To make recommendations regarding the hiring, firing, discipline, promotion, and evaluation of all grocery department personnel.
• To orient/train all new grocery department employees and retrain employees when necessary.
• To develop a weekly labor schedule in a timely basis, for all grocery department employees for approval by the store manager.
• To implement the weekly display plan for end-aisle merchandising and ad promotion.
• To supervise/order all grocery products and supplies to minimize out-of-stocks while maintaining the desired grocery inventory turns.
• To supervise/perform preparation of the backroom for receipt of merchandise, checking of the load for shortage/overage, sorting of cases according to aisle or pallet for stocking, stocking of merchandise on shelf, building of displays, storage of back stock.
• To supervise/perform cleaning of store floors, check lanes, carts, restrooms, parking lot and shelves, and safe use of cleaning equipment and chemicals.
• To supervise/perform the loading of stocking carts/pallets, transportation of cases to the sales floor either on stocking carts or pallets, matching of the case strip to the shelf tag/stock, placement of merchandise in the designated shelf/display position/area, the "face/front" program for the front row of each display, the immediate pick up/removal of all broken containers, packing materials/boxes from the sales floor or customers’ pathway.
• To supervise/perform the counting and recording of individual items of merchandise for inventory.
• To supervise/perform the manual price-marking/labeling of merchandise without a UPC code.
• To supervise the movement of damaged/unsalable and "returnable" products from shelves to the backroom, sorting of the materials into bins and the return of damage to the reclaim center.
• To supervise/perform the changing of signs, light bulbs, tags and price markers.

Qualifications

• Above and Beyond Customer Service
• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Prior supervisory experience
• Prior grocery experience

Specific tasks

• Work on tile or concrete for a maximum of 8 hours in duration.
• Move to supervise: the receiving of product, movement of product to the floor or storage area, opening/cutting of cases, inspect product quality, sorting of cases/merchandise, building of displays on the shelf and at end-aisles, the allocation of space in grocery categories, order merchandise and supplies, cleaning and maintenance, removal of trash/debris from the department, price-marking and signage throughout the store, approximate maximum 100 yards.

Work Environment Note

Inside work with transitions of heat/cold/humidity/dust from entrance/back door/compressors/cooler/freezer.
