Responsibilities

• Promote trust and respect among associates.
• Create an environment that welcomes customers by answering questions about products in the department and store.
• Gain and maintain knowledge of products and respond to questions with recommendations.
• Inform customers of grocery specials.
• Provide customers with fresh products they ordered.
• Recommend grocery items to customers to meet their needs.
• Check product quality to ensure freshness; review sell-by dates and take action.
• Bag at least five items while preventing damage.
• Follow bagging best practices for reusable/plastic/paper bags.
• Assist in removing merchandise for checkout.
• Assist customers with loading bags into their car.
• Return merchandise to shelves.
• Gather carts and return them to designated areas.
• Understand store layout and locate products; perform price checks for cashiers.
• Order, label, stock and inventory department merchandise.
• Report discrepancies to the department manager.
• Display a positive attitude.
• Stay current with ads and promotions.
• Adhere to food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Maintain proper temperatures in cases and coolers; keep temperature logs.
• Operate equipment in the grocery department per guidelines (refrigerators, freezers, baler, u-boats, compactor, forklift, pallet jacks).
• Reinforce safety programs by following procedures and reporting unsafe conditions.
• Perform preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying management of needed repairs.
• Notify management of accidents.
• Report safety risks or illegal activity including theft or fraud.
• Must be able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
