Job Summary:

The Night General Clerk is responsible for stocking, facing, and rotating merchandise during overnight hours in the grocery department to maintain an attractive store image and price integrity for customers.

Essential Functions:

1. Assist in receiving, sorting, and organizing stock inventory for store shelves.
2. Stock shelves and products in a clean, organized, and presentable manner following company standards.
3. Help unload trucks as directed by management.
4. Monitor shelf prices and product quality, restocking as needed for accuracy and freshness.
5. Follow company procedures for case cutting to prevent product damage and loss.
6. Transport stock to storage and workload areas.
7. Replenish products across departments as instructed.
8. Move products in and out of storage for display and storage, including refrigeration units.
9. Handle damaged or spoiled products per company policy and control their levels.
10. Check expiration dates to ensure product freshness.
11. Maintain a clean, attractive, and friendly department environment.
12. Report refrigeration or equipment malfunctions immediately.
13. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Understanding of inventory systems and procedures.
• Knowledge of grocery products and categories.
• Awareness of OSHA and safety regulations.
• Accurate inventory checking and recording skills.
• Proficiency with inventory management software and warehouse technologies.
• Effective communication skills.
• Ability to organize storage areas and manage inventory efficiently.
• Problem-solving skills for inventory discrepancies.
• Adaptability and decision-making in high-pressure situations.

Physical Requirements:

• Stand and walk for extended periods.
• Lift up to 25 pounds frequently, 50 pounds occasionally.
• Perform reaching, bending, stooping, squatting, and handling tasks.
• Climb ladders and operate warehouse equipment.
• Maintain communication and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Work Conditions:

• Variable hours, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
• Indoor, climate-controlled environment.
• Work within various store sections.
• Dress code includes company-issued or appropriate attire in approved colors.
• May be exposed to moving parts and chemicals.
• Low to moderate noise levels.
• Constant interaction with customers and staff.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Over one year of grocery clerk experience preferred.
• Complete OSHA forklift training.
