Job summary

Kroger is seeking a department supervisor to elevate customer service within the Grocery department. You will direct daily operations, supervise staff, and ensure safe, efficient store performance while focusing on inventory accuracy and pricing accuracy.

You will train associates on CAO, manage inventories, and coordinate promotions and budgets. Strong leadership and adherence to safety and regulatory guidelines are essential. This is a full-time, on-site role.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Any management experience.
• 1 year of grocery retail experience (desired).

Responsibilities

• Create an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service.
• Direct and supervise all department functions and activities.
• Support day-to-day Grocery operations.
• Train associates on inventory/stocking and CAO.
• Plan, organize and supervise the inventory process.
• Schedule price changes and update shelf tags.
• Maintain awareness of inventory/stocking conditions; note discrepancies.
• Assist store management in preparing budgets, P&L reviews and take action on financial reports.
• Monitor and control expenses for the department.
• Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads.
• Implement the period promotional plan for the department.
• Prepare seasonal critiques and create sales promotions with store management.
• Understand store layout and product location; respond to product questions.
• Maintain knowledge of products and assist customers with recommendations.
• Adhere to local, state and federal laws and company guidelines.
• Train and develop associates; participate in performance appraisals.
• Develop scheduling to manage customer volume; promote teamwork to meet goals.
• Communicate information to associates; supervise and coach direct reports.

Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines; ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained and temperature logs are maintained

Report all safety risks or issues, and illegal activity, including: robbery, theft or fraud; notify management of customer or employee accidents

Train department associates on inventory/stocking and Computer Assisted Ordering (CAO)

Plan, organize and supervise the inventory process

Schedule daily, weekly and monthly price changes by updating shelf tags and promotional signs

Maintain an awareness of inventory/stocking conditions; note any discrepancies in inventory

Assist store management in preparing the store/department budget, profit and loss reviews, and take appropriate action on all financial reports

Monitor and control expenses for the department

Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads

Implement the period promotional plan for the department

Prepare and submit seasonal critiques for the sales and merchandising supervisor

Create and execute sales promotions in partnership with store management

Understand the store's layout and be able to locate products

Gain and maintain knowledge of products sold within the department and be able to respond to questions and make suggestions about products

Adhere to all local, state and federal laws, and company guidelines

Train and develop associates on performance of their job and participate in the performance appraisal process

Develop adequate scheduling to manage customer volume throughout hours of operation

Collaborate with associates and promote teamwork to help achieve company/store goals

Communicate company, department, and job specific information to associates

Supervise and coach direct reports in the performance of their duties; complete performance reviews and provide feedback to direct reports
