Job summary

Smith's Food & Drug Centers is seeking a Courtesy Clerk/Grocery Bagger to provide friendly customer service and maintain a safe, clean store environment. You will bag groceries at checkout, assist customers with loading bags into their cars, and help keep shelves and aisles orderly.

The role emphasizes teamwork, attention to detail in bagging, and adherence to safety and food handling guidelines. Prior retail experience is a plus but not required; applications are reviewed as they come in.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Bag groceries at checkout and assist customers.
• Aim to bag at least five items per bag without damaging contents.
• Follow best bagging practices for reusable, plastic, and paper bags.
• Assist in unloading merchandise for checkout and helping customers load bags into their car.
• Help customers with loading bags into their vehicle when needed.
• Perform basic shelf conditioning and ensure accurate pricing checks for cashiers.
• Inform customers of grocery specials and return merchandise to shelves as needed.
• Collect and return bascarts and maintain cleanliness of store and parking lot.
• Clean spills and keep all areas inside and outside the store tidy.
• Handle and stock seasonal merchandise and know store layout for product location.
• Comply with safety regulations and report unsafe conditions to management.
