Job summary

Ralphs is seeking a Grocery Clerk to create an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service and maintain a safe, clean environment that encourages customers to return.

You will assist the department manager in achieving sales and profit goals, monitor quality standards, and uphold Ralphs’ values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion and safety. This role emphasizes teamwork in a fast-paced store setting.

Responsibilities

• Help customers discover items and answer questions about products.
• Inform customers of specials and suggest items to meet their needs.
• Check product quality and freshness; review sell-by dates and take action as needed.
• Provide customers with requested grocery items, both fresh and non-perishable.
• Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
• Report ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Stay current with ads and promotions; adhere to food safety regulations.
• Maintain proper temperatures and temperature logs in cases and coolers.

Essential Job Functions:

• Grocery Clerk helps customers discover new items or products they inquire about.
• Grocery Clerk informs customers of food specials and recommends grocery items to customers to ensure they get the products they want and need.
• Check product quality to ensure freshness. Review "sell by" dates and take appropriate action.
• Grocery Clerk provides customers with fresh and non-perishable grocery products that they have ordered.
• Recommend grocery items to customers to ensure they get the products they want and need.

• Practice preventive maintenance by properly inspecting equipment and notify appropriate department or store manager of any items in need of repair.
• Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
• Ability to work cooperatively in high paced and sometimes stressful environment.
