Responsibilities include:

• Informing customers of food specials and recommending grocery items to ensure they find what they want and need.
• Checking product quality for freshness, reviewing "sell by" dates, and taking appropriate action.
• Providing customers with ordered fresh and non-perishable grocery products.
• Labeling, stocking, and inventorying department merchandise.
• Reporting product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Staying current with present, upcoming, seasonal, and promotional ads.
• Adhering to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Maintaining proper temperatures in cases and coolers, and keeping temperature logs.
• Gaining and maintaining product knowledge to assist and make suggestions to customers.
• Creating a welcoming environment where customers feel valued and appreciated.
• Reinforcing safety protocols and reporting unsafe conditions.
• Practicing preventive maintenance and notifying management of equipment issues.
• Reporting customer or employee accidents.
• Working cooperatively in a high-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
