Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Stock shelves, dairy cases, and other areas of the department.
• Ensure items in dairy and other categories are in-date and well within expiration date.
• Rotate stock to maintain quality and freshness.
• Operate a cash register following established policies and procedures.
• Accurately price all merchandise with shelf tags, stamps, or signs.
• Ensure daily price changes are completed before store opening and maintain price integrity.
• Monitor pull dates on all Grocery merchandise.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Grocery Clerk is responsible for providing service that exceeds the expectations of customers by performing the following duties (other duties may be assigned):

• Fills customer orders by obtaining items from shelves, freezers, coolers, bins, tables, or containers.
• Stocks shelves, dairy cases, and other areas of the department.
• Assures that all items in the dairy box are in-code and well within their expiration date.
• Rotates stock to assure high quality, and fresh merchandise at all times.
• Required to operate a cash register following established policies and procedures.
• Accurately prices all merchandise by stamping, marking, or placing shelf tags/signs.
• Assures daily price changes are done accurately and completed before the store opens; maintaining price integrity at all times.
• Monitors pull dates on all Grocery merchandise.

Education and/or Experience

High School diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the Grocery Clerk is regularly required to stand for long periods; walk; frequently use hands; hands to finger; handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. The Grocery Clerk occasionally is required to reach with hands and arms. The Grocery Clerk is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The Grocery Clerk must frequently lift and /or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and color vision.
