Job summary

Bristol Farms is seeking a detail-oriented Grocery Clerk to assist customers, stock shelves, and operate the checkout efficiently in a fast-paced department.

You will help ensure product freshness, correct pricing, and accurate shelf labeling while delivering friendly service to shoppers in our California stores.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED preferred; or 1–3 months related experience.
• Ability to operate a cash register following policies.
• Strong customer service orientation.

Responsibilities

• Fills customer orders from shelves, freezers, coolers, bins, tables, or containers.
• Stocks shelves, dairy cases, and other areas of the department.
• Rotates stock to ensure fresh merchandise.
• Operates a cash register according to established policies and procedures.

Job Title: Grocery Clerk

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Grocery Clerk is responsible for providing service that exceeds the expectations of customers by performing the following duties (other duties may be assigned):

• Fills customer orders by obtaining items from shelves, freezers, coolers, bins, tables, or containers.
• Stocks shelves, dairy cases, and other areas of the department.
• Assures that all items in the dairy box are in-code and well within their expiration date.
• Rotates stock to assure high quality, and fresh merchandise at all times.
• Required to operate a cash register following established policies and procedures.
• Accurately prices all merchandise by stamping, marking, or placing shelf tags/signs.
• Assures daily price changes are done accurately and completed before the store opens; maintaining price integrity at all times.
• Monitors pull dates on all Grocery merchandise.

They are required to follow established policies and guidelines that go beyond simply smiling and greeting customers. Going above and beyond encompasses attitudes, respect, and flexibility. The Grocery Clerk is expected to have a positive “can-do” attitude; treat others with respect; and easily adjust to changes in the workplace.

Education and/or Experience

High School diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the Grocery Clerk is regularly required to stand for long periods; walk; frequently use of hands; hands to finger; handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. The Grocery Clerk occasionally is required to reach with hands and arms. The Grocery Clerk is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The Grocery Clerk must frequently lift and /or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and color vision.
