Job summary

Bristol Farms in Santa Barbara, CA is seeking a reliable Grocery Clerk to provide friendly service and keep our department well organized for customers. This role supports the Grocery team in daily operations and helps ensure a clean, inviting shopping experience.

Responsibilities include stocking shelves and dairy cases, operating the cash register, accurately pricing items, rotating stock, and monitoring sell-by dates to maintain freshness and price integrity throughout the store.

Qualifications

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Grocery Clerk is responsible for providing service that exceeds the expectations of customers by performing the following duties (other duties may be assigned):

• Fills customer orders by obtaining items from shelves, freezers, coolers, bins, tables, or containers.
• Stocks shelves, dairy cases, and other areas of the department.
• Assures that all items in the dairy box are in-code and well within their expiration date.
• Rotates stock to assure high quality, and fresh merchandise at all times.
• Required to operate a cash register following established policies and procedures.
• Accurately prices all merchandise by stamping, marking, or placing shelf tags/signs.
• Assures daily price changes are done accurately and completed before the store opens; maintaining price integrity at all times.
• Monitors pull dates on all Grocery merchandise.

Education and/or Experience

High School diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the Grocery Clerk is regularly required to stand for long periods; walk; frequently use of hands; hands to finger; handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. The Grocery Clerk occasionally is required to reach with hands and arms. The Grocery Clerk is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The Grocery Clerk must frequently lift and /or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and color vision.
