Under both the Grocery Manager and Store Manager Supervision, the GROCERY CLERK performs the following duties :
TYPICAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Customer service and assist other employees as needed
- General merchandising activities, including pricing
- Assist in receiving, storing, and stocking of products & proper rotation
- Create and build product displays, ensure proper facing of products
- Handle product damages and credits according to company policy
- Place orders for products form other stores and manufacturers and / or distributors
- Check delivery invoices / packing lists against shipped product
- Must be familiar with store products and their locations in order to assist customers in locating items
- Dust and clean shelves and product
- Maintain awareness of safety and security in assigned area and removing safety hazards (ladders, cardboard boxes, etc.)
- Other duties assigned
QUALIFICATION GUIDELINES
Any combination equivalent to, but not limited to, the following :
Training / Education :
- A High School Diploma or G.E.D. certificate
Experience :
- Previous customer experience is a plus
Knowledge of :
- Simple arithmetical calculations
Ability to :
- Read, comprehend and relate product knowledge to customers in an understandable manner
- Work in an accurate manner in a fast-paced environment
- Order, stock, face and price conduct
- Work in a team with those contacted in the course of work
- Assist customers promptly
- Communicate orally and in writing with supervisors, co-workers and customers
Physical Requirements / Working Conditions :
- Stand for long periods of time (up to 8 hours)
- Lift and carry boxes and crates up to 75 pounds
- Extend arms overhead and reach for products and boxes
- May work both inside and outside in wet and / or cold weather conditions
- Stock shelves using carts, box cutters and dollies
Special Requirements :
- Must be available to work various shifts as needed
