Assist the department manager in reaching sales and profit goals established for the department and monitor all established quality assurance standards. Responsibilities
  1. Help customers discover new items or products they inquire about.
  2. Inform customers of food specials and recommend grocery items to ensure they get the products they want and need.
  3. Check product quality to ensure freshness; review "sell by" dates and take appropriate action.
  4. Provide customers with fresh and non-perishable grocery products that they have ordered.
  5. Recommend grocery items to customers to meet their needs.
  6. Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
  7. Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
  8. Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.
  9. Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
  10. Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained and temperature logs are kept.
  11. Gain and maintain knowledge of products sold within the department and respond to questions and make suggestions.
  12. Create a welcoming environment for customers, making them feel important and appreciated.
  13. Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and reporting unsafe conditions.
  14. Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and reporting repairs.
  15. Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
  16. Work cooperatively in high-paced, sometimes stressful environments.
  17. Manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational manner.
  18. Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
  19. Follow directions and seek assistance to resolve issues.
  20. Support and assist minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
  21. Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
