Responsibilities include:

  • Informing customers of food specials and recommending grocery items to meet their needs.
  • Checking product quality to ensure freshness, reviewing "sell by" dates, and taking appropriate action.
  • Providing customers with ordered fresh and non-perishable products.
  • Labeling, stocking, and inventory management of department merchandise.
  • Reporting discrepancies in product ordering/shipping to the department manager.
  • Staying current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.
  • Adhering to all food safety regulations and maintaining proper temperatures and logs.
  • Gaining knowledge of products to respond to questions and make suggestions.
  • Creating a welcoming environment for customers by answering questions and making recommendations.
  • Reinforcing safety programs and reporting unsafe conditions or accidents.
  • Performing preventive maintenance and notifying management of repairs needed.
  • Managing conflict in a calm and cooperative manner.
  • Acting with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
  • Following directions and seeking assistance when needed.
  • Supporting and assisting minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
  • Performing essential functions with or without reasonable accommodations.
